    SCHOOL RULES

      • A student must carry his/her almanac to school every day. It must have his/her photograph and all information complete and signed by parents.

        • A student must take care of the almanac. In case he/she loses it, a written application by the parents forwarded by the class teacher to be presented to the book shop for purchase of a duplicate almanac.

        • Students who come to school in their own transport should arrive at school before the bell rings. No student is allowed to come to school in a self-driven scooter, motorcycle or car.

        • The school follows different schedules for buses for different classes. Students are not permitted to travel by different schedules or buses without prior written permission from the school.

        • Students should be neatly dressed. The school uniform is to be worn along with I-card on every working day. Students who are sloppily dressed or not in uniform will be dealt with severely.

        • Non-Sikh boys should get their hair cut at regular intervals. Sikh boys must wear turbans in Class IX and above.

        • Girls should plait their hair if it is below the shoulders. Short hair should be neatly cut and pinned.

        • Students are expected to respect the property of others. This includes respect for school property.

        • No student should damage any school furniture, write or draw any thing on walls, furniture or in any way damage things belonging to others. Damage done even by accident should be reported at once to the Class Teacher or the Principal. Any damage done will be Made good by the one who causes it.

        • The school is not responsible for goods lost. It is advisable not to bring valuable articles (like expensive watches, pen or calculator etc.) to school.

        • Students are not to wear any jewellery to school (No chains, rings, bangles, bracelets). Girls may wear only one pair of small ear rings or studs. Boys are not permitted to wear any jewellery.

        • No nail polish or mehendi is permitted.

        • Students who leave school privately in the care of servants, should not leave the school premises until after the arrival of servants, should report to the school office. Students who go home with the servants, In case of delay of the arrival of the servant they are advised to go straight home.

        • Students should be polite wherever they go. They should always remember that the school is judged by their conduct, They should greet their teachers when they meet them. Bullying and use of foul language is not allowed, strict action like penalty/suspension/expulsion/rustication shall be taken against the students.

        • Parents and guardians are not permitted to visit their wards or teachers in the classrooms without the permission of the Principal.

        • As far as possible, once a child has come to school, he/she should not be asked to come home on half day leave or leave from any period.

        • Students must not miss any teaching/games/library/activity period. A yellow card will be issued if they do so.

        • Nalanda Public School provides education from Nursery to class XII. Therefore it is expected that the juniors be treated with love and affection, while the juniors show respect to their seniors.

        • No students shall indulge in any of the following practices such as

                             (a) spitting in or near the school building,
                             (b) disfiguring or otherwise damaging any school property,
                             (c) smoking
                             (d) any form of gambling
                             (e) rowdyism and rude behavior, use of unaccepted language
                             (f) Use of violence in any form,
                             (g) casteism, communalism or practice of untouchability.

        • The observance of rules of discipline of the school and good behaviour is an essential condition to a student’s continuance in the school. In case a student violates the school rules or indulges in any form of indiscipline the same will be recorded in the student’s dossier. In addition, strict action like penalty/ suspension/expulsion/rustication shall be taken against the students.

        • If in one month’s time from date of admission, the documents required for admission formalities are not received by the school Administration, the child will be suspended from the school.

      GUIDELINES TO PARENTS TO KEEP THEIR CHILD HEALTHY

      All parents are required to impart health education to their children so that they :-

        • Maintain personal hygiene like trimming of nails, regular hair cut and being neat on a regular basis.

        • Change undergarments and socks everyday. Clean and polish shoes regularly.

        • Exercise regularly.

        • Sleep for at least eight hours daily.

        • Have a balanced diet, nutritionally rich in proteins and milk.

        • Drink water which is either boiled or filtered. All students are advised to bring their own water bottles from home.

        • Avoid consumption of Ice-creams and other milk products, fried food and eatables from road side vendors.

        • Deworm all children at least once every year. Advice to be taken from their family physician.

        • Get dental and an ophthalmic checkup done once every year by a Dental surgeon and Opthalmologist.

        • Immunize all children before entering school as per schedule.
          (a) BCG
          (b) DPT
          (c) Oral Polio
          (d) Measles/MMR
          (e) DT-at 5 years of age
          (f) Hepatitis to be give before entry to school

        • Should there be any infectious disease in your home please report the fact to the Principal/Class Teachers at once and do not send your ward to school till the Infectious period is over.

        • Students suffering from diseases such as Chicken Pox, Cholera, Measles, Mumps, Whooping-Cough and Jaundice must observe the prescribed period of quarantine mentioned under the heading ‘Absence’ in the Almanac.

        • Students suffering from infectious diseases like Conjunctivitis, Dermatitis, Scabies etc. Should not be sent to school.

        • Student suffering from chronic diseases like Asthma, Epilepsy, Rheumatic Heart disease etc. are advised to be under continuous medical supervision of a specialist doctor. History of their illness must be filled up in Almanac along with the treatment being taken and a copy of it must be submit-ted to the school clinic with name, class, section and contact number of parents/guardians.

      ABSENCE

        • Students who have been sick should bring a medical certificate along with a copy of Prescription from their doctor the day they join school. A copy of the fitness Certificate is to be submitted to in the school clinic for follow-up.

        • Parents should fill up the ‘Record for Non-Attendance’ on page 30 for a day’s absence from school stating the reasons for absence.

        • If a student is absent for more than a day, an application is to be given stating the reason for his/her absence. A proper application on proper note paper in an envelope, will be appreciated.

        • No one who has been absent on the previous day will be admitted to the class without a letter from the parent addressed to the Class Teacher, stating the reasons for the absence.

        • Leave for going out of station should be approved of prior to proceeding on leave.

        • In case of emergency-parents are informed and they have to report to the Principal. They are not to go to the classes directly.

        • Students suffering from the following diseases must observe the prescribed period of quarantine before returning to class.
          (a) Chicken pox-Till complete falling of the scabs.
          (b) Cholera -Till the child is completely well.
          (c) Measles -Two weeks after the rash disappears.
          (d) Mumps-Until! the swelling has gone: about one month.
          (e) Jaundice-Six weeks after recovery.

        • Repeated absent without leave or unexplained absence for

        • more than six consecutive days renders the students liable to have his name stuck off the rolls. Re-admission may be granted only on payment of a fresh admission fee.

        • It is compulsory for the students to complete 80% of the attendance in the academic session to make them eligible to sit for the final examination. class IX, X, XI & XII students must have an average of 75% attendance before the examination. However, the percentage could be relaxed on medical ground. 10. If a child has been absent the parents should cooperate with the teacher and see that the work missed is completed as soon as possible.

        • Being absent on and off for a day or two for ceremonies (pujas) at home or other minor reasons hampers the momentum of studies and can eventually affect the academic performance. The parents should be careful that children don’t suffer for these reasons.
